Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Voxian ("we", "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Voxian reading app and website at voxian.ai (the "Service"). Questions are welcome at voxianinfo@gmail.com.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, the display name you choose, and your password, which our authentication provider stores in hashed form. We never see your password.
• Information from Google sign-in: if you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and a Google account identifier (the standard "email" and "profile" permissions). We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google data, and we never post or act on your behalf.
• Documents and study content: the PDF files you upload, their cover images, your reading position, bookmarks and voice preference, and the quizzes, flashcards, and chat questions and answers you create. Text is extracted from your PDFs in your own browser.
• Narration and AI requests: when you press Play, the passage being read (a short excerpt at a time) is sent to our narration service to generate audio. When you use chat, quizzes, or flashcards, the relevant excerpts and your question are sent to our AI provider. Generated audio is cached in your browser so you do not pay for the same passage twice.
• Usage records: how many narration characters and AI requests your account uses, with timestamps, to apply plan limits and control costs.
• Payment information: subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive a customer identifier, your subscription status, and renewal dates. We never receive or store your full card number.
• Technical and security data: IP address and device and browser information processed by our hosting and security providers; error reports that include the app version and browser details, from which we remove document text, access tokens, and private links; and bot-protection signals collected on the sign-up, sign-in, and password-reset forms.
• Browser storage: your sign-in session, preferences, and cached narration audio are kept in your browser's local storage. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

How we use information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To provide reading, narration, chat, quiz, and flashcard features you request.
• To save your progress and sync it across your devices.
• To apply plan limits, prevent abuse and fraud, and keep the Service reliable.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To find and fix errors.
• To send essential messages such as email confirmation, password resets, receipts, and important changes to the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.

Google user data

Voxian's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We use the name, email address, profile picture, and account identifier we receive from Google only to create your Voxian account, sign you in, and show your name in the app. We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or transfer it to anyone except the service providers that operate the Service on our behalf (listed below), when required by law, or with your consent. People at Voxian do not read this information except with your permission, to investigate security issues or abuse, or to comply with the law.

AI processing

We do not use your documents to train AI models. Our narration and AI providers process content only to return results to you. Our AI provider's paid API terms do not allow it to use this content to improve its products, and integrations that offer model-improvement data controls are enabled only after those controls are set to opt out.

Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, each for its stated purpose:

• Supabase: accounts and sign-in, database, and private document storage.
• Netlify: website hosting.
• Stripe: payment processing and subscription billing.
• Modal: computing that generates narration audio.
• Google: Google sign-in (if you use it), Gemini AI features, and web fonts.
• Cloudflare: bot protection (Turnstile) on sign-up, sign-in, and password-reset forms.
• Sentry: error monitoring.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case we will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

Storage and security

Information is processed and stored in the United States. Documents are stored privately and are available only to your account through authenticated, time-limited links, and our database enforces per-account access rules. All traffic is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information and content while your account is active. You can delete any document at any time, which removes its stored files. You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account in the Voxian app. Account deletion removes your uploaded files, study material, usage records, account profile, and Voxian sign-in record, subject only to information we are legally required to retain. If you cannot access the app, use our account deletion page or email us.

We retain deletion receipts to confirm a request after the account is removed; completed receipts no longer contain your account or billing-provider identifiers. We keep aggregate usage totals without account or document identifiers to enforce spending limits. Backups are kept for a limited period and then overwritten. Your browser keeps a private recovery receipt until you dismiss the completed request or clear that browser's site data.

Deleting a Voxian account cancels a subscription bought on this website. It does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription, which you manage in the applicable store. Payment processors and app stores may retain transaction records under their own legal obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email voxianinfo@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also revoke Voxian's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account's security settings.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
